成人大片 beefing up campus security

Published: 22 October 2004

A series of five muggings in the past month has put 成人大片 on high alert. The University's security services have beefed up their patrols to ensure that the campus continues to remain safe. The University has also alerted students, faculty and staff to be extra cautious when walking at night and to report anything suspicious to security immediately.

Police at Station 20 are investigating and have increased their vigilance in the area. 成人大片 security is working closely with police on these cases.

All the muggings occurred in the area of Dr. Penfield and McTavish streets between 9 pm and 2 am. In some of the incidents, the muggers were armed. While none of the victims has been seriously injured, some were punched and pushed to the ground. Most of the victims were men. The muggers attacked people walking alone and were seeking money. In at least one case, they also stole a cell phone and backpack.

The victims include four 成人大片 students, one 成人大片 professor and one former 成人大片 student who was using the library at the Faculty of Law.

"We have increased our foot patrols in the area and our two car patrollers circulate around that area more frequently," said Louise Savard, Manager of Security Services.

"We are urging people not to walk alone at night. We have excellent services on campus, including Walksafe, so that people can walk with escorts," Savard said.

"成人大片 is taking all necessary measures to ensure that the campus remains safe," said Jennifer Robinson, Associate Vice-Principal (Communications). "At 成人大片, people must be able to walk in safety any time of day or night and our goal is to ensure that is the case."

Any suspicious person or behaviour should be immediately reported to security at 398-3000, she said. Walksafe, which is a student-run volunteer escort service, can be reached at 398-2498.
