2nd annual 成人大片 Rethink conference on the environment
The second annual Rethink Conference on 成人大片's Environment will be held at 成人大片 University on March 28, 2003. The forum is designed to continue to raise awareness, foster consultation and communication between faculty, staff, students, and external experts, and elicit the community's views, ideas, and concerns on environmental issues.
成人大片 is the only Montreal university that has an official environmental policy. The policy was formally adopted, after an extensive environmental review, in April 2001. In addition, the University is a signatory to the 1991 Halifax Declaration (on the role of universities in improving the capacity of countries to address environment and development issues) and the 1990 Talloires Agreement (a ten-point action plan for incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy in teaching, research, operations and outreach at colleges and universities).
Rethink 成人大片 is the overarching umbrella of the University's environmental campaign. It promotes and helps implement the environmental activities of 成人大片's community of 35,000 faculty, staff and students. Rethink is the fourth "R" in the well-known and commonly used expression: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle".
"成人大片's success in implementing its Environmental Policy lies in cooperation and feedback from all University groups," said Dr. Morty Yalovsky, Vice-Principal, Administration and Finance. "Ultimately, the goal of our collaboration is to establish and develop further skills and practices so we can work towards the preservation and restoration of the environment."
Participants at this year's Rethink forum will discuss various issues related to transportation, education, community, consumption and energy. The conference provides an opportunity for activists, educators, staff and administrators of 成人大片 to meet with one another to discuss campus-wide issues.
All members of the community, both within and outside 成人大片 are welcome to attend, free of charge. Pre-registration is required due to space limitations.
